Indiana Fever make final roster cut before season-opener

Caitlin Clark made her preseason debut for the Indiana Fever last week in a return to her alma mater in a 108-44 blowout victory over Brazil.

Clark played just 19 minutes but racked up 16 points, six rebounds, five assists and a block. She shot 6-of-10 from the field and 4-of-6 from three-point range. Following the game, Clark admitted to ESPN’s Holly Rowe that the team’s “ceiling” is a WNBA title.

“A championship, that’s our goal,” Clark said. “It’s gonna take a lot of hard work, we got a new team so it’s gonna take some time to put it all together. But I think everybody’s thankful that we got some really great vets that have won before, and then we got some people back, and then Steph’s amazing and her staff. So just taking time to put it all together, but it should be a great season.

” While the Fever prepare for their season-opener against Angel Reese and the Chicago Sky, one player won’t be part of the team reaching its ceiling. On Tuesday, May 13, the Fever announced the team waived guard Jaelyn Brown – just four days before the season-opener. “we have waived guard Jaelyn Brown. thank you, Jaelyn,” the team said.

While Brown graduated from the University of California in 2020, she didn’t make it into the WNBA until joining the Dallas Wings in 2024, playing internationally until getting her shot.

Ironically enough she made her preseason debut against Clark and the Fever while dropping a game-high 21 points. She played in 14 games for the Wings during the 2024 season, averaging 2.6 points and 1.5 rebounds on 10 minutes per game.
