  • [ May 15, 2025 ] Cheryl Tweedy Granted Control Over Liam Payne’s Estate for Son Bear’s Future Asuir, Benue, Nigeria – May 15, 2025 – Following the tragic passing of Liam Payne in October 2024, his former partner and mother of his son Bear, Cheryl Tweedy, has been granted legal responsibility over his substantial estate, estimated at £24 million ($32.2 million). This development comes as Payne died intestate, meaning he did not leave a will. Under UK intestacy laws, when an individual passes away without a will and has no spouse or civil partner, their estate typically passes to their children. As Payne’s only child, his eight-year-old son Bear is the sole legal heir to his fortune. Due to Bear being a minor, legal documents have confirmed that Cheryl Tweedy has been appointed as one of the administrators of Payne’s estate. She will manage the significant funds alongside music industry lawyer Richard Mark Bray. While they are responsible for overseeing the estate, they have limited authority and are not permitted to distribute the assets directly. The inheritance will be held in trust for Bear until he reaches the age of 18. However, reports suggest that Cheryl intends to ensure Bear is older and more equipped to handle such a large sum of money before gaining full access. Sources close to Tweedy have indicated her desire to potentially delay Bear receiving the full inheritance until he is in his mid-twenties, or even to release the funds in stages throughout his late twenties and thirties. A source told The Sun: “Cheryl wants to protect Bear and is going to stop him receiving Liam’s inheritance until he’s at least 25 years old, if not older. There are lots of conversations ongoing and Cheryl may even allow the money to be given only in chunks throughout his late 20s and 30s. She wants him to still have ambition and the drive to succeed without the back-up of the money — and she’s aware that people may want to befriend him because they are aware of his situation.” The source further explained to The Independent: “Cheryl has spoken to the trustees and the money will be invested until Bear is of the right age to start receiving some of it.” This move by Cheryl is reportedly motivated by a desire to protect Bear’s future and ensure he makes informed decisions about his finances when he is mature enough. It also aims to encourage him to forge his own path and ambitions without solely relying on the inheritance. Liam Payne and Cheryl Tweedy were in a relationship from 2016 to 2018 and welcomed their son Bear in March 2017. Despite their separation, they maintained a co-parenting relationship. The legal framework ensures that while Cheryl manages the estate in the interim, the ultimate beneficiary is Bear Payne, securing his financial future. Her reported intentions to delay full access to the inheritance reflect a desire to safeguard his well-being and development beyond just financial security. Celebrity
