Formula 1 enthusiasts and collectors will have a rare opportunity to acquire pieces of motorsport history as significant Michael Schumacher memorabilia is scheduled for auction in Miami. The Bonhams auction will take place during the Formula 1 Crypto.com Miami Grand Prix weekend, with the live event set for Saturday, May 3, 2025, after the qualifying session.

Among the standout items is a Shoei helmet worn by Michael Schumacher during his early career in 1991. This helmet is believed to have been used in his karting days and potentially even during his stint in the German Touring Car Championship (DTM) that year. Interestingly, sponsor stickers were later added to the helmet to resemble the design of his helmet from his first full Formula 1 season with Benetton in 1992. This piece of history is estimated to fetch between £23,000 and £38,000 (approximately $30,000 – $50,000 USD). The helmet comes with its original karting visor and shows signs of wear from its use.

This auction follows a successful event last year during the same Miami Grand Prix weekend, where another race-worn Michael Schumacher helmet sold for an impressive $114,800 USD, significantly exceeding its pre-auction estimate. This highlights the strong demand and high value placed on authentic memorabilia from the seven-time world champion’s career.

In addition to Schumacher’s helmet, the Bonhams auction will feature a remarkable collection of race-worn helmets and overalls from other Formula 1 legends, including Charles Leclerc, Fernando Alonso, Lewis Hamilton, Nigel Mansell, Alain Prost, and Damon Hill. This diverse offering promises to attract a wide range of collectors and fans.

The memorabilia will be available for preview at the Bonhams|Cars display located at the Miami International Autodrome and in various fan zones throughout the Grand Prix weekend, allowing attendees to get a close look at these historical artifacts.

For those unable to attend the live auction, an online sale of additional memorabilia will run concurrently from April 28 to May 12. This online auction will include race-worn helmets, car bodywork, signed programs, and other unique items, providing a global opportunity for collectors to participate.

Michael Schumacher’s career is one of the most celebrated in Formula 1 history, marked by seven World Championship titles, 91 Grand Prix wins, and numerous other records. His memorabilia continues to be highly sought after by collectors worldwide, reflecting his enduring legacy in the sport. This upcoming auction in Miami presents a significant opportunity to own a tangible piece of his remarkable journey.
